DUSTING WHEN THE LIGHT IS DIM: Tim Challies gives us a helpful illustration about sanctification. "... as Christians, see more and greater evidence of our sin as our days pass by. When we are young in the faith, we know we are sinners, but see only the most obvious evidence of it. We become immediately aware of our biggest sins, our baddest sins, our worst sins, and dutifully repent of them. Yet we have only scant spiritual light and do not see the true extent of our sin with any great clarity".

CHRISTIANS NEED MORE INTERGENERATIONAL FRIENDSHIPS: Based on American research, this article has universal application. We have wonderful opportunities to pursue these mutual connections across our church family at St Ives. "Intergenerational community is part of God’s vision for the church. But it takes some effort. Fortunately, we can build new friendships that cross-generational lines by taking some simple steps..."

A DEEP DIVE INTO THE CLASSIC CHRISTIAN CREEDS: This is for those who want some substantial theological food. Credo magazine releases four editions each year, and the new issue 'We Believe' has articles on the historic creeds of the Christian faith (you can also access past issues through their archive) "If evangelicals are anything, they are a Bible people; a people of the book who hold the Holy Scriptures as sufficient and authoritative. This is undoubtedly a good thing. But must this high view of Scripture lead to a depreciated view of the Church’s historic creeds? Too often, evangelicals are tempted to answer this question in the affirmative. This is a grave mistake, however, for while the Scriptures are authoritative and sufficient in their own right, they still must be interpreted. At their best, the creeds have functioned as faithful interpretations of the Scriptures; well-forged articulations of the faith once for all delivered to the saints."

RESURRECTION LIFE IN A WORLD OF SUFFERING (FREE E-BOOK): The free-e-books keep coming from The Gospel Coalition This week is a selection of chapters based on the letter of 1 Peter and edited by Don Carson & Kathleen Nielson. "The book of 1 Peter offers a gospel perspective on our short lives. Originally written to Christians facing intense suffering, Peter’s message is one of hope and grace―all centered on the resurrected Christ. Featuring contributions from six popular Bible teachers, this volume will help you better understand the hope-filled message of the book of 1 Peter and experience the resurrection life Jesus offers us today."
