EASTER SERVICES THIS WEEK: GOOD FRIDAY (9:00-9:45am)  and  EASTER SUNDAY (10:00-11:30am)

Wednesday Webwatch (21/7/21)

WHAT DOES THE CHURCH MOST NEED TODAY?: Robert Godfrey takes what he deduces to be the central verse in the whole of the Psalter (Psalm 81:8) as a call to listen to the Lord. "As we study psalms, we soon learn that the central verse of a psalm is often significant as a key to its interpretation. The central line of Psalm 81 is the heart of that psalm, as the plaintive cry of God is heard: “O Israel, if you would but listen to me!” (v. 8b)

SEEM OR BE?: Missionary Susan Lafferty asks a great question which needs to be asked: “Do you want to seem holy? Or be holy?” Too many of us settle for the “seem.”

GOD’S DUMB CHILDREN: This is an insightful piece by Eleazar Maduka, where she uses the Biblical example of Jonah to write about sin and the believer's prayerlessness. "Prayer is always difficult when there is unconfessed sin. There are really no words to address God with when one is in sin. Of course, one could go through the motions and pray for praying sake. One could even put up a show for others, fooling them with one’s command of the English language and of Scripture. But no man can truly pray while he is living in unrepented sin".

FINDING THE RIGHT HILLS TO DIE ON (FREE E-BOOK): I'm not sure how many of you are getting into these weekly TGC e-books. Some of the titles have been well worth checking out. This week is a book by Gavin Ortlund on the topic of 'theological triage'. "In theology, just as in battle, some hills are worth dying on and others are not. But how do we know which ones? When should doctrine divide, and when should unity prevail? Just as a medic on a battlefield treats the severely wounded first and then moves on to the less serious injuries, we must prioritize doctrine in order of importance."
