Death in Adam, Life in Christ (Glorious News)
Having been assured in our hope of salvation in the first half of Romans 5 last week, we turn this Sunday to Romans 5:12-21. The question: What are the two great enemies of hope? The answer: sin and death!
In these dense and difficult verses, Paul takes us on a somewhat convoluted argument, comparing and contrasting our forefather Adam with our glorious saviour Jesus Christ. You would do well to have a read and think through the verses before Sunday, because hearing the passage ‘straight up’ can be a bit confusing. I’ll give you the main point now (and we’ll begin to fill in the details together on Sunday): what Christ has done for all who are in Him, is far greater than what Adam did for all who are in him.
My prayer is that as we go even deeper into the glorious implications of the gospel, we would be ever more joyful, grateful, hopeful, thankful, praise-ful and boastful in Christ!
